NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – No. 37 Averett University women's tennis began its weekend trip with a 7-0 victory over Methodist University on Saturday afternoon at the Eyre Courts.
Featuring a new pair at No. 3 doubles with
Elisa Battermann and
Ella Boddington, Averett's (2-1) three pairs easily clinched the tie's first point, only losing a combined two games across the first slate of matches.
Featured by an ascendant victory at the No. 1 singles flight by
Siddhi Khandelwal without losing a game, the singles players defeated the Methodist (0-3) lineup in secure fashion, winning the team's second sweep of the spring campaign.
The Cougars get their shot at another ranked opponent, facing No. 17 Christopher Newport University tomorrow for a 10:30 a.m. matinee.
