ABINGDON, Va. — Averett University's IHSA team traveled to Emory & Henry University over the weekend for a two-day show. Averett was awarded Reserve High Point Team over both days and freshman Carly Williams won High Point Rider on Saturday.
To kick off Saturday, sophomore
Megan McClelland-Clayton rode in Intermediate Fences with a great ride and was awarded second place. Next was Williams in Limit Fences with a lovely ride, winning first place. Freshman Audrey Beckhardt also competed in Limit Fences, receiving fourth place after a solid ride.
Senior
Paige Johnson started off the Flat classes, riding in Open with a very nice ride, achieving second place. Next was McClelland-Clayton in Intermediate Flat with a technical ride, receiving fourth place. Williams had another lovely ride in Limit Flat, winning first place. Freshman Elize Idén had a great ride in Novice Flat, earning second place. Lastly, sophomore Abigail Sander had a steady ride in Introductory Flat, earning third place.
To start Sunday, McClelland-Clayton competed in Intermediate Fences with a good ride, receiving third place. Next up was Williams in Limit Fences with an amazing ride, winning first place.
Johnson had a good ride in Open Flat, receiving third place. McClelland-Clayton had a good ride in Intermediate Flat, getting third place. Williams had another amazing ride, winning first place in Limit Flat and being awarded Reserve High Point Rider after a tiebreaker. Also in Limit Flat was Beckhardt, with a challenging ride, receiving sixth place. Idén had a technical ride in Novice Flat, receiving fourth place for her efforts. To close out the weekend Sander had a great ride in Intro Flat, earning second place.
