Equestrian's IDA wins High Point Team, Team Regional Champion honors

PROVIDENCE, N.C. — Averett University hosted the final doubleheader IDA show of the season, winning High Point Team and Team Regional Champion, with many individuals also winning regional champion.

Saturday started off strong with freshmen Audrey Beckhardt and Elize Idén riding at First Level for testing. Beckhardt took home first place and was also awarded High Point Rider, with Idén not far behind, placing third. At Upper Training Level, senior Elyse Keeney rode a solid test and earned second place. Freshmen Carly Williams and Mackenzie Joy rode strongly at Lower Training Level Testing and took home second and first place, respectively. Finishing off tests with Introductory Level, freshman Ashlee Study and sophomore Allison White had wonderful rides, winning first and second place, respectively.

Next up was Dressage Seat Equitation (DSE). Idén rode at First Level, along with sophomore Megan McClelland-Clayton. Both put forth near perfect rides and were awarded first and second place, respectively. In Upper Training DSE, Keeney and Williams put forth a great effort in a competitive class and took home second and first place, respectively. Joy and White both rode in Lower Training DSE. After two wonderful rides they won third and first place, respectively. Study rode at Intro DSE and had a tremendous ride, earning a well-deserved first place.

Sunday kicked off the last regular-season show of the year. Beckhardt and McClelland-Clayton each had challenging tests at First Level and were awarded third and second place, respectively. Beckhardt was also named First Level Regional Champion. Keeney rode again at Upper Training Level and earned another second place after a solid test. Williams and Joy rode at Lower Training Level and had very technical tests, placing third and second, respectively. Williams won Lower Training Region Champion after a great season. For the last Intro test, White rode very strongly in a competitive class, placing fourth and earning Introductory Regional Champion at.

The competition closed with very strong DSE rides. Idén and McClelland-Clayton rode at First Level and won first and second place, respectively. Idén also won First Level DSE Regional Champion. Keeney and Williams rode strongly at Upper Training Level and won second and third, respectively. Keeney was awarded Upper Training DSE Regional Champion after a solid season. At Lower Training Level, Joy and White rode again and had challenging rides, placing first and fourth, respectively. Joy took home Lower Training DSE Regional Champion. Finally, at Intro Level, Study put forth a good effort, finishing in second place and winning Introductory DSE Regional Champion.

The IDA Team, as well as all individual riders who won regional champion, will compete in the 2025 IDA National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri, from April 24-27.
