SALEM, Va. – Averett University men's tennis kicked off April with a 7-0 sweep at Roanoke College on Tuesday afternoon, extending its win streak to seven.
Averett (9-2, 5-0 ODAC) faced some stern competition in doubles, with Roanoke (6-5, 2-1 ODAC) battling with a win at No. 2. However,
Jaeden Mukkaladyil and
Prabjeet Chandhok moved to 5-3 as a pair this year, taking out Federico Maccari and Julio Marques to grab the 1-0 advantage.
The singles lineup had various shifts, as
Lucas Fiandra got the nod at No. 1, and handled business versus Emiliano Ramirez, 6-0, 6-1.
Alex Donnelly at No. 2 did the same, defeating Maccari 6-2, 6-0.
Roger Pamies Petit, in only his fourth dual start, remained undefeated, as he bested John-Henry Harrington, 6-0, 6-3. The other Cougars won as well, and extended the team's win streak against the Maroons to five.
Averett takes its talents to Newport News for a pair of mid-week non-conference matches later in the week, first with a neutral site faceoff versus Hardin-Simmons University on Thursday, Apr. 3. Start time is set for 3 p.m.
