DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis bead coach Bert Poole was named Coach of the Year and freshman Florian Bert was named Rookie of the Year as the Virginia Sports Information Directors College Division All-State Team was announced Tuesday. Six Averett men's tennis players combined to earn eight accolades from VaSID in addition to Poole being named the top coach.

Senior Jaeden Mukkaladyil and junior Prabjeet Chandhok earned VaSID All-State First Team honors in singles, while freshman Rafael Jodas earned VaSID Second Team at doubles. The duo of Bert and junior Alex Donnelly and the tandem of Jodas and junior Sam Egui earned VaSID Second Team recognition at doubles.

Poole, in his 10th season as head coach of the program, earned his first Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year nod this spring after guiding the Cougars to the 2025 ODAC Tournament championship and an NCAA Tournament berth, a national ranking as high as No. 33 and record of 17-5 (8-1 ODAC). His Cougars snapped Washington and Lee University's 14-year run as champions by beating the Generals in the ODAC finals, then picked up the program's first NCAA Tournament win since 2000 to advance to the second round. He also was named the VaSID Coach of the Year for men's tennis during the shortened 2020 season.

Bert, a native of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, was named the ODAC Co-Rookie of the Year in addition to his VaSID Rookie of the Year honors. The All-ODAC Second Team No. 3 doubles selection went 14-10 in singles, primarily at No. 3 singles, where he posted a 9-7 record. He posted a 17-5 record in doubles matches with various partners. Bert and Donnelly finished 9-4 as a doubles tandem, including a 7-4 mark at No. 3.

Mukkaladyil was named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned All-ODAC honors for the second consecutive season and he tallied the most singles wins on the team with a 20-5 record, including a 16-3 record at No. 2 singles. The native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, earned other accolades such as being named the Senior Male Class Athlete of the Year award and receiving the Senior Male GPA Award at Averett's Night of Champions and being selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

Chandhok, a native of Mumbai, India, earned All-ODAC honors for the second year in a row as well. He finished with a 16-7 record in singles with a 12-3 record playing at No. 4.
