BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Averett University women's golf finished off play Sunday at the Shenandoah University Fall Invitational hosted at Cacapon Resort State Park. The Cougars slipped from fourth to ninth over the final 18 holes.
Marymount University ran away with the tournament, winning by 42 strokes with a score of 28-over. Marymount's Kate Parsons won individual medalist honors after shooting even-par for the tournament.
The Cougars shot a collective 55-over on Day 2 after carding a score of 41-over on Saturday. Senior
Sophia Marshall was Averett's top performer, finishing 14th after shooting 6-over on Sunday to finish at 16-over for the tournament. Her day included a birdie on the par-3 No. 8.
Additionally for Averett, sophomore
Meredith Pegram shot 22-over to finish 24th. Senior
Madison Masoudpour was five strokes back at 27-over. Junior
Manuela Pacheco Gonzalez shot 33-over and junior
Cooper Perryman finished at 49-over.
Averett will return to action Sept. 22-23 at the Bridgewater College Invitational in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
