Baseball to reschedule season opener due to field conditions

DANVILLE, Va. -- Averett baseball announced that its season opener against Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, Feb. 11 has been postponed due to inadequate field conditions from previous inclement weather. The game has now been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 3 at 2 p.m.

The Cougars' 2026 opening contest is now a doubleheader at Owen-Fulton Field on Saturday, Feb. 14, hosting Hood College starting at 12 p.m., but said contest is tentative to change. Fans can check the website and schedule for future updates.
