VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Averett University women's golf sits in fourth place out of nine teams after the first day of play at the Marlin Invitational hosted by Virginia Wesleyan University at Cypress Point Country Club. The Cougars shot a collective 60-over-par 288.
A rare tie for the Averett lead is in place, as senior
Hannah Walton and sophomore
Meredith Pegram are both tied for 17th at 14-over-72. Senior
Sophia Marshall's score is just two more over the previous two, in tied-23rd, along with senior
Madison Masoudpour. Junior
Cooper Perryman shot 18-over-72 to sit in tied-28th. Freshman
Lucy Congema also made her collegiate debut.
In the solo lead is Southern Virginia University's Sydney Richards with an even score, and the Knights are first as a team as well, at 22-over-par.
