VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Highlighted by a top-10 placing from sophomore
Meredith Pegram, Averett University women's golf placed fourth at the Marlin Invitational on Tuesday afternoon at Cypress Point Country Club. As a whole, the team shot 123-over-par 576.
The aforementioned Pegram jumped up in the individual rankings in the second round, as she was a 10-over-par 72, and finished an overall 24-over-par for the tournament. Her tied-ninth finish matched a season-best, dating back to The Melee in October 2025.
Senior
Sophia Marshall was the Cougars' next best finisher in tied-17th, with a 12-over-par round two and 28-over total. Junior
Madison Masoudpour was 33-over for the tournament and tied for 24th, while senior
Hannah Walton was tied for 30th with a 38-over-par score. Junior
Cooper Perryman was tied-35th at 42-over.
Southern Virginia University won the invitational by 17 strokes, with a team score of 69-over, while fellow knight Sydney Richards took top podium status with a five-over par final score.
The Cougars nearly have a month of prep before their next tournament from April 6-7 at the Greenbriar Women's Collegiate hosted by Southern Virginia University in Greenbriar, West Virginia.
