WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Averett University men's golf currently sits tied for 18th following two rounds of play at the Sam Snead Collegiate hosted by Piedmont University on Monday. The Cougars currently are 43-over-par 284.
Freshman
Lukas Newton was Averett's best golfer on the first day, nine-over par in 44th place. First-year
Chase Myers is 55th, and 11-over. Freshman Nicholas Santoso shot 12-over and currently is in 65th, and sophomore
Benjamin Afzelius is four places behind in 69th, with a 14-over-par score.
Sophomore
Zach Alway concluded the group's play at a plus-16 mark. No. 2 nationally ranked Carnegie Mellon University is the top ranked team so far with a score of seven-over, while the Tartan's David Zhang is six-under at the head of the individual leaderboard.
Averett tees off for round three to cap off the tournament at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon.
