FOREST, Va. – For the second consecutive week, no. 61 Averett University women's tennis swept the Doubles Team and Singles Player of the Week awards, per the conference offices on Monday afternoon. Like the previous week, the duo of senior
Elisa Battermann and junior
Dilara Sultanova collected the doubles duo of the week honors, while sophomore
Sunna Maass won her first singles player of the week laurel.
Battermann, hailing from Zeist, the Netherlands, and Sultanova, who hails from Izmir, Turkey, went 2-0 in matches last week. The two defeated Shenandoah's Atlee Hilliard and Olivia Guzzo, 6-0, then dispatched Salem's Charlize Green and La'Kasia Williams, 6-1. The two are 11-1 this season.
Maass, who hails from Berlin, Germany, won three straight matches at three different slots. Last Tuesday, she won versus Division-II Davis & Elkins' Maddie Frazier from the four slot, 6-1, 6-2; then double bageled Shenandoah's Kendra Gillette at the five slot. She concluded her stellar week with a three-set comeback win over Salem (N.C.)'s Adley Keim playing at no. 1 singles, 1-6, 6-2, 10-8. Maass has compiled a singles record of 14-4 this season.
The Cougars now have eight total weekly ODAC honors in 2025-26, with five of them coming from doubles.
