AMHERST, Va. – Averett University men's golf finished the ODAC Championships in eighth place after round three at Poplar Grove Golf Club on Tuesday. The Cougars' final score was 75-over-par 864.
Freshman
Chase Myers recorded his fourth top-10 finish of the season, as he tied for eighth following a four-over round. Myers made four birdies, and scored 14-over for the tournament. Freshman
Lukas Newton went three-over in the final round, Averett's best, and rose up three spots to tie for 25th at 20-over.
Sophomore
Zach Always finished in 35th at 26-over par. Fellow sophomore
Benjamin Afzelius tied for 36th at 27-over par, and freshman Nicholas Santoso went six-over in the final round to finish tied for 38th.
As a team, Averett ranked tied for third out of the ODAC constituents for made birdies with 32.
39th-nationally ranked Guilford College rode a strong middle round to top the podium at a collective 40-over-par score, while Washington and Lee University's Jonathan McEwen won first by one stroke, three-over.
