HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – No. 57 Averett University men's tennis got a quality non-conference road win on Thursday afternoon, with a 6-1 win versus Hampden-Sydney College.
Averett (7-5) rolled through doubles, its calling card all season, to notch yet another opening dual point. The same continued over to singles, as the Cougars won five out of six against the players of Hampden-Sydney (7-9). Despite a loss at the first singles slot, Averett's depth was too strong for the Tigers. Most convincing was sophomore
Lucas Fiandra's win over Hampden-Sydney's Casey Coffey, 6-0, 6-1.
The Cougars' singles win leader in sophomore
Roger Pamies Petit won his 16th match of 2025-26, as he defeated Jonathan Fogle 6-3, 6-2.
A ranked road test awaits once more for Averett, as it faces off versus No. 39 Shenandoah University in upper Virginia state. Start time for the match on Saturday, Apr. 11 is set for 1 p.m.
