DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University women's tennis seniors
Elisa Battermann and
Harshri Asher, and juniors
Dilara Sultanova and
Siddhi Khot were awarded with Academic All-District Distinction from the College Sports Communicators, released by the establishment on Tuesday afternoon.
Battermann, who hails from Zeist, the Netherlands, finished the season 6-4 in singles, while owning one of the best doubles records on the team at 15-6, with a 9-3 ledger playing No. 1, with an undefeated 9-0 conference record alongside partner Sultanova. Battermann was awarded one of the top female senior GPA awards and also received the women's tennis team's service award at Averett's Night of Champions.
Asher, hailing from Mumbai, India, led the team in singles wins with 18, and went 5-2 in doubles matches this season.
Sultanova, hailing from Izmir, Turkey, sported an 8-4 singles record playing the first slot, and went 13-2 in doubles matches. With partner Battermann, they were 12-2, and undefeated in ODAC matches at 9-0. Sultanova was awarded one of the top female junior GPA awards and was named Co-Junior Female Athlete of the Year at Averett's Night of Champions.
Khot, who hails from Pune, India, was tied for second in singles wins for the Cougars this season with 16, and recorded a 4-4 split in doubles matches.
The women's tennis program as a whole now sports eight All-District selections since 2023, and recorded its second straight year where four players were named to the list.
