FOREST, Va. – Averett University softball senior
Hannah Zabik and juniors
Carson Bradsher and
Mackenzie Newcomb were named to the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Conference team, the league offices announced on Thursday.
Bradsher, hailing from Cedar Grove, North Carolina, repeats as a first-teamer from the previous season, but at the shortstop position in 2026. Bradsher posted the fifth best batting average in the ODAC at a .442 clip, and led the league in hits with 65. In conference-play specifically, Bradsher's batting average was in the top-20, while her hit count was 18th. Nationally, Bradsher's 65 hits were 19th-best in all of Division III. Bradsher recorded 70 total bases, which ranked top-10 in the conference; and stole 17 bases, tied for 13th.
Newcomb, hailing from Victoria, Virginia, made her second straight appearance on the all-conference list as a third baseman, but moved up from the third team a year prior. Newcomb posted a 1.054 OPS, 17th-best in the conference, and led the ODAC in two-baggers with 20, five more than second-place. Her 20 doubles ranked sixth in Division III. She also had a career-high in home runs hit with four, tied for 15th amongst conference players. Where Newcomb truly excelled was with runners in scoring position, where she ranked third in the conference with 50 runs batted in, and was also 12th in slugging percentage. Newcomb's speed on the bases translated to the tied-10th best stolen base number, with 19 on the year. She has one of 17 instances amongst ODAC hitters in which three walks were drawn in a single contest. Newcomb is also only of only six players to swipe four bags in a single game in 2026.
Zabik, hailing from Sykesville, Maryland, makes her debut on the all-conference list as a utility player. In 24 games started in the circle, Zabik's 2.84 ERA was the 10th-best in the ODAC, and tied for fourth-most in complete games pitched with 11. She tied for best conference-wise in shutouts with eight, and had the 11th-best batting average against at a .255 percentage. Zabik was only one of seven pitchers to give up two or less home runs across the season, and struck out the seventh-most batters in the ODAC with 74. She provided a quality season at the plate, posting a .286 batting average with 32 hits, 24 runs scored, along with three doubles.
The aforementioned three bring Averett's all-time ODAC honorees to seven since joining the conference four seasons prior. For head coach
Anna Coleman, she has had at least two players be named all-conference for the second straight season.
