DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's soccer opened up its 2026 season on Tuesday with a non-conference loss to William Peace University, 8-1.
The Pacers (1-0-0) opened up with a goal early in the first period, when Roberto Rayo found the back of the net. The Pacers added seven goals after that to finish the first half of play.

Will Davis scored the first goal of the season for the Cougars as the clock wound down. He broke away from the Pacers defense late in the game to outscore the visitors in the second half.

Averett had four different players record shots on the game, with senior
Patrick Leslie putting a shot on goal in the first half.
Averett will hit the road for their next game as they will take on Pfeiffer University on Saturday, Sept. 5, for a 6 p.m. non-conference kickoff.
