GREENSBORO, N.C. — Averett University men's golf traveled south to compete in the Gate City Invitational on Monday morning. The Cougars finished the opening round 18th on the team leaderboard.
Junior
Benjamin Afzelius was the highest-finishing Cougar, tying for 56th after shooting 8-over par. Afzelius carded four birdies, including three on the back nine.
Sophomore
Nicolas Santoso tied for 73rd, carding three birdies during the opening round.
Huntingdon College fnished the first round atop the team leaderboard heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Cougars return for the final round of the Gate City Invitational hosted by Greensboro College at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
