How Averett helped me:
"Averett changed my life from the first day I set foot on campus after never seeing the school before even arriving. I was very close to playing Soccer at two other Florida Schools and I am very happy in the choice I made. Coach Vesa Hiltunen, coach Steve Ballard and my three assistant coaches from John Sharples, Eric Tepee, Lance Williams and many Averett professors helped me build confidence on and off the field. A couple of lasting memories for me was being able to go play Soccer in Finland one summer as well as being an All-State Selection by the Virginia Sports Information Directors in 1987,1989 and 1990. I can not thank everyone enough for all they have done for me to shape who I am today. When I moved back to Virginia in 1994, I remembered my past coaches and decided to help others and became a coach for many years with the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club."
