DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis earned its first conference win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Ferrum College on Thursday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
Averett (4-3, 1-2 USA South) swept all three doubles matches to take the early lead. The No. 2 tandem of sophomore

Nicolas Quevedo and the No. 3 duo of junior
Carlos Lora and sophomore
Ariel Prieto won their respective matches 8-3. Freshmen
Caius Blomqvist and
Lauri Soome held off Ferrum's Conner Moncure and Kevin Ramirez 8-6 for the win at No. 1 doubles.
Blomqvist, Soome, freshman
Nicolas Yanes and Prieto all won their singles matches in straight sets. Soome's match ended early after his opponent had to retire due to injury.
Averett hosts William Peace University on Saturday.
