DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University men's tennis lost its spring opener, falling 9-0 to Division II Chowan University on Thursday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.

Chowan (2-0) took all three doubles matches, despite a tight battle at the No. 2 spot where freshmen Felipe Andreazza and Douwe Sternfeld eventually fell 8-5 to Chowan's Mariano Yeh and Mateusz Izycki.

The Hawks then took all six singles matches in straight sets.

Averett (1-1) travels to play Randolph College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
