The Series: The Cougars are 0-14 all-time against Virginia Wesleyan. However, the two teams have only met once since 1989. The Marlins edged Averett 64-63 on a neutral floor at the University of Mary Washington's tournament in November 2016.
Averett at a Glance:Â The Cougars are coming off a 68-56 home loss to defending USA South Conference champion Piedmont College during the Cougar Tip-Off on Nov. 17. Prior to that, Averett had won two in a row after cruising past the University of Lynchburg 70-39 on Nov. 12 and topping Huntingdon College 69-60 to open the Cougar Tip-Off on Nov. 16.
Virginia Wesleyan at a Glance: The Marlins have opened the season 1-3 under former Averett head coach Liz Hudy, who is in her first year at Virginia Wesleyan. The Marlins lost their opener 59-46 against Salisbury University on Nov. 12 and then won 69-46 over Wesley University at Mary Washington's tournament on Nov. 15. Mary Washington then crushed Virginia Wesleyan 73-37 the next day. Most recently, Shenandoah University handed the Marlins a 57-44 loss to open ODAC play on Wednesday.
