HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. — Averett University men's soccer and Hampden-Sydney College battled to a 0-0 draw in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play on Saturday night.
Averett (2-4-3, 0-1-1 ODAC) had three shots in the final five minutes as the Cougars looked to capitalize late. However, none found the back of the net and Averett settled for a draw against Hampden-Sydney (5-1-2, 0-1-1 ODAC), which Averett had beat the last two meetings.
Although the Tigers — who are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll — outshot Averett 10-9, the Cougars outshot Hampden-Sydney 5-3 on frame. Junior goalkeeper
Tyler Yates had two saves in between the pipes for the Cougars.
Averett returns to action on Monday when it travels to non-conference foe Methodist University.
