CLINTON, Miss. — Averett University cross country sent four athletes to compete in the NCAA Division III South Regional Championships on Saturday.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Griffin and junior
Alheli Ramos-Garcia made the trip to represent the women's team in the 6K championship run. Griffin led the way as she ran to a 68th-place finish with a time of 24:50.38. Ramos-Garcia followed up her teammate with a time of 27:01.61, placing her in 126th on the women's leader board.
A duo of youth and experience made the trip to represent Averett's men's team, as freshman
Hunter Moss and senior
Jaden Carter competed in the 8K event. Moss paced the two-man squad as the freshman ran to a 72nd-place finish, with a time of 27:48.01. Carter closed out the day for Averett with a time of 33:31.11, finishing in 153rd-place.
As the Cougars' crossed the line in Saturday's race, the 2024 season winds to a close for the cross country program. Averett's first year Director of Track & Field/Cross Country,
Annika Seuschek, now shifts focus to the upcoming indoor track and field season, set to get underway in January.
