DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's soccer fell 2-1 to Bridgewater College in its first conference home match at Daly Field at Frank R. Campbell Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Bridgewater (5-2-3, 1-1 ODAC) claimed a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute, as Erick Lobo slotted a left-footed shot into the bottom left corner on a pass from Ali Malik.
Averett (3-3-3, 0-2 ODAC) jumped on the Eagles defense early, scoring its first goal within the five-minute mark this season. Off of a corner situation,

Bridgewater tied the contest up shortly into the second period. Riley Queen, unassisted, found his way to the back of the net with a shot into the left corner in the 54th minute.
Averett tallied four shots, with two on target. Graduate student goalkeeper
Tyler Yates made a season-high six saves in net.
The Cougars continue conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 7, hosting the University of Lynchburg for a 7 p.m. contest.
