BELMONT, N.C. – Averett University men's tennis began its fall schedule over at Belmont-Abbey College, as it competed against the likes of Belmont-Abbey College and Gardner-Webb University.
In the Cougars' first set of matches versus Belmont-Abbey, Averett claimed both doubles matches.
Sam Egui and
Alex Rudy defeated the Crusaders' Brody Sawyer and Sullivan Monteith, 6-4, while
Satwik Kollepalli and
Roger Pamies Petit blanked Zuhayr Alam-Ahmed and Kaleb Burrage, 6-0.
Turning over to singles against Belmont Abbey, Averett claimed two out of three wins. 2025 All-ODAC honoree
Rafael Jodas pushed opponent Santino Romero to three sets after dropping the first, but eventually prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Pamies Petit capped off an undefeated first session against the Crusaders by dispatching Zachary Hawkins, 6-0, 6-0.
Later that afternoon against Gardner-Webb, Rudy was able to claim a singles win over Billy Mac Clement, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
Overall, the Cougars split their matches on the day, with a 5-5 ledger versus cross-divisional opponents.
Averett returns to match action at Belmont-Abbey tomorrow on Saturday, Aug. 30.
