DANVILLE, Va. – Averett University men's tennis took down Roanoke College, 6-1 at the Averett Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon.
Doubles play remained strong as it has been all spring for Averett (5-4, 5-0 ODAC) with three straight wins and the first dual point.
Singles was more of a slog versus a potent Roanoke (5-9, 2-3 ODAC) lineup. The Cougars extended their lead to 3-0 with wins from senior Sam Egui and sophomore Lucas Fiandra. The Maroons got back on the board with a win at the second slot, but Averett closed out the match with three straight victories. Both sophomores in Florian Bert and Satwik Kollepalli grinded out three-set wins on the afternoon.
A tough test awaits on Saturday, March 28, with conference runner-ups and No. 36 Washington and Lee University coming to Danville. Start time is set for 1 p.m.
