FOREST, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2025-26 winter ODAC sportsmanship teams on Friday in each of the conference's eight sponsored sports. On the list, five of Averett University's winter athletes were selected. Across all eligible sports, 73 student-athletes received such laurels.
The squads are composed of a student-athlete selected by the coaching staffs of each team competing under the conference banner with all sports and schools fully represented.
The Cougars selected to the list included women's basketball senior
Elisa Harris, women's indoor track and field junior
Gabrielle Griffin, men's basketball junior
Isaiah Ramazani, men's indoor track & field junior
Azael Quintero, and men's wrestling senior
Nolan Gerwitz.
"Sportsmanship and respect are fundamental to the ODAC's mission," said ODAC Commissioner Brad Bankston. "These student-athletes have been recognized for their commitment to fair play and respect for their opponents—qualities that deserve greater recognition. I thank these honorees for setting an outstanding example for all of us."
The ODAC has a rich tradition in promoting fair play and good sportsmanship in each sport across the league. The character of the conference's student-athletes on and off the field is a representation of not only the individuals and teams, but also the institutions for which they play.
