How Averett helped me:
"While at Averett, I had the opportunity to be a member of the volleyball team and grow my leadership skills. I carried this into the workplace as a physical education teacher, not only teaching sport fundamentals, but also character traits like teamwork. Now, as a program assistant on MCAS Cherry Point, I work as a member of a team to provide the best care and learning experiences for the children enrolled in the program! Also, playing a sport helped me learn to balance my time. Although I don’t have a sport to play now, I still have to balance my time in other areas of my life such as working, taking care of our family and home, and other daily tasks or activities. Being a student-athlete at Averett truly helped shape the person I am today!"
