How Averett helped me:
"So much of what I learned on the court is transferable to the classroom. Not only do I teach my students English, but I work to build their confidence in themselves. Sports gave me opportunities to lead, so when I was in front of my first classroom of students, I felt comfortable leading them toward our shared goal."
