Averett University Athletics Hall of Fame
Chad Anderson was a four-year starter on the baseball program from 1999-2002. Anderson finished his career with a .349 batting average with 179 career hits, 148 runs, 121 runs batted in, 49 doubles, five triples and 14 home runs in 146 games over four seasons. Anderson was a three-time all-conference performer, earning First Team shortstop honors his final two season with the Cougars. He also earned All-South Region accolades his final three seasons from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), and earned a spot on the Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State Team as a sophomore and a senior. Anderson ranks second all-time in program history in runs scored, third all-time in home runs and RBIs, fifth all-time in average and sixth in hits. He also holds the program records for most walks in a season (32) and a career (86), as well as the single-game marks for runs scored (five, twice) and walks (four, twice). Over his career, he helped the Cougars earn a national ranking in three of his four seasons as Averett totaled 88 wins during his career.
In 2014, he was selected as a member of the USA South Conference’s 50th Anniversary Baseball Team.
Anderson was inducted into the Averett Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 17, 2020.
