Judi Overbey defined the term "multisport athlete" during her time at Averett, playing women's basketball, women's soccer, softball and volleyball for the Cougars. On the basketball court, Overbey made the all-conference second team as a sophomore and is currently eighth on the basketball program's all-time scoring list and holds the single game and career mark 3-point percentage. On the soccer field, she was named to the All-Conference Second Team during her senior season. In softball, Overbey was named the conference's Player of the Year and was on the All-Conference First Team as a sophomore in 1991. She made the All-Conference Second Team as a senior.

Overbey was named to the USA South Conference's 50th Anniversary teams for softball and women's basketball.

Overbey was inducted into the Averett Athletics Hall of Fame on Oct. 18, 2014.
